Another outstanding selection for the Brookings Les Schwab ‘Star Student Athlete’ has been chosen to set yet another bar for future athletes to meet both on and off the athletic field.
Mia Weaver has been chosen for her outstanding work and dedication for her class, local community service and her participation in the Brookings-Harbor High School Golf program.
Talking with Mia’s coach Gary Early, he told the Wild Coast Compass that Mia was the only senior on the girls varsity team. “She is one of the most dedicated and competitive players I have coached” he said. “She began her freshman year and through her hard work and dedication improved her game every year” he went on to say.
As the senior class president, as well as team captain of the girls Golf Team, Mia also put in 400 hours of community volunteering and won an excellence award in leadership.
Scholastically Mia maintained a 3.49 GPA while mentoring youth junior golf programs and led her team to Brookings-Harbor High School girls only state play-off appearance.
We are confident that Mia’s work ethic and dedication will take Mia where ever it is she chooses to go. Mia will be furthering her education at SWOCC pursuing a career in nursing.
Congratulations Mia, and good luck on all your future endeavors.
