At 11:12pm pacific time Monday night, July 21st, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck 62 miles south southeast of Perryville, Alaska according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
Tsunami warnings were issued for south Alaska the Alaskan Peninsula and the Aleutian Islands.
The shallow 6 mile deep 7.8 magnitude quake was felt approximately 500 miles away in Anchorage Alaska, and was followed by numerous aftershocks in the surrounding areas ranging from 6.1 to 3.8 in magnitude.
Just after 12:30am pacific time, the U.S. NWS Tsunami Warning Center stated that no Tsunamis were observed at nearby deep ocean gauges and that a destructive Pacific-wide Tsunami was not expected.
