On Wednesday afternoon, August 25th, Crescent City California Highway Patrol Officers and Del Norte County Sheriff’s Department Deputies responded to the scene of a disabled vehicle that was blocking the roadway at Parkway Drive and Sherwood Lane in Crescent City, just before 3:00pm.
A male subject holding a knife and walking in lanes of traffic was immediately located upon arrival of authorities. The male subject advanced toward the officers and an officer-involved shooting occurred, and the subject died as a result of the incident.
There were no injuries to California Highway Patrol or Del Norte County Sheriff’s Department personnel.
The California Highway Patrol Northern Division Critical Incident Investigation Team and Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team personnel are handling the investigation, and any witnesses should contact the California Highway Patrol.
