On Thursday evening December 28th, at about 8:08 pm, the Curry County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from forty-six-year-old and Brookings, Or., resident William (Bill) Terebesi stating that he had been shot multiple times and that he was driving himself to the Sheriff’s Sub-Station on Lower Harbor Road in Harbor. Terebesi told dispatch that he was at his storage unit at Strahm’s Storage located on Oceanview Drive when he was shot by an unknown subject.
Sheriff’s Deputies met Terebesi as he pulled into the parking lot of the sub-station. Terebesi was in a great deal of distress but was able to give deputies a vague description of the suspect. Cal Ore Life Flight Ambulance was dispatched along with the Harbor Fire Department to medically assist.
Terebesi was transported to Sutter Coast Hospital with two apparent gunshot wounds. Due to the serious nature of Terebesi’s injuries, he was flown from Sutter Coast Hospital to the trauma center at an undisclosed location.
Deputies and an Oregon State Trooper went to Terebesi’s storage unit look for a suspect. While officers were clearing the storage unit, they saw evidence that corroborated Terebesi’s story. The Curry County District Attorney was called and requested the Major Crime Team be called in to assist.
With the assistance of the Brookings Police Department, The Gold Beach Police Department, the Port Orford Police Department and the Oregon State Police, Deputies applied for a search warrant to search Terebesi’s storage unit. The search warrant was granted by a Circuit Court Judge and law enforcement served the warrant, locating evidence of the shooting. At this point, law enforcement does not know the motive behind the shooting and are developing leads to help identify the suspect.
The Curry County Sheriff’s Office along with members of the Major Crime Team will be continuing the investigation and are asking the public to notify the Curry County Sheriff’s Office if they have any information that might lead to the identity and arrest of the suspect.
