Early Saturday evening, August 24th, a report of an unknown individual attempting to force entry into a residence led, to Medford Police officers being dispatched to an apartment complex on Berrydale Road at approximately 6:14pm.
As officers were in route, a second call was received reporting gunshots at the same location.
First responding officers located a deceased male with apparent gunshot wounds upon arrival, and preliminary investigations reveal that the deceased male had forced entry into the apartment and was advancing towards a resident with a knife when another resident fired in defense.
The incident remains under investigation.
