Just after nightfall, on Sunday, December 23rd, the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office and Search and Rescue personnel responded to the Requa Trailhead on the Coastal Trail near Klamath for a missing person who had wandered away from his vehicle as a storm was approaching.
The Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office and Search and Rescue, led a search effort with ground crews and K9s on a trail that was dark, treacherous, and steep on loose terrain in the rain.
Dakota Stanley, 26 years old, was found by Search and Rescue volunteers. He was cold, wet and tired, but in otherwise good health.
The Klamath Volunteer Fire Department and the Coast Guard Air Operations assisted into the night and early morning of Christmas Eve.
