Very early Saturday morning, August 1st, the California Highway Patrol received a call from a resident regarding a crash on Oceanview Drive north of Peregrine Lane.
It was determined the vehicle, a 1999 Ford Ranger, had been traveling northbound on Oceanview Drive, left the roadway and collided into a mailbox before traveling down the embankment at about 12:45am.
The vehicle then overturned multiple times and came to rest on its left side facing in a westerly direction blocking the southbound traffic lane of Oceanview Drive.
During the crash, the 34 year old male driver was ejected from the vehicle. The driver succumbed to his injuries from crash and was pronounced deceased on scene.
Oceanview Drive was completely closed for approximately three hours due to the incident.
This crash is currently under investigation.
