Just after noon Monday, September 28th, Officers from the Crescent City Police Department were dispatched, and members of the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a male subject who had been swept off the jetty by a wave.
Upon arrival of first responders to the location, the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office took lead in the situation as it turned into a Search and Rescue incident. The male subject was recovered from the water and transported to the Big Boat Basin as life saving measures began.
The subject was unable to be revived and did not survive the incident, and the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office will be handling the investigation.
