Just after 2:00 am on Friday evening, November 23rd, Officers were dispatched to reports of a man who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle laying in the center of the road. Officers from the Grant’s Pass Police Department arrived on the scene and located the male subject who was then transported to the hospital by American Medical Response.
Further investigation revealed that the man had been struck by a vehicle and that the suspect vehicle fled the scene. The man, identified as 31-year-old Joshua Anthony Perdue, was pronounced deceased at Three Rivers Medical Center a short time later.
Detectives were dispatched to the scene to assist with the investigation and information was obtained on a possible suspect vehicle and a suspect driver. As the investigation continued, the suspect Anthony Mooney, contacted Grants Pass Police Department just before 3:00 am to report that he had been involved in a crash with a pedestrian.
The suspect vehicle was also located and has been seized as evidence for further processing. Mooney was ultimately lodged in the Josephine County jail for D.U.I.I. Alcohol/Controlled Substance, Reckless Driving, Felony Hit and Run, Manslaughter 1, and Tampering with Evidence. The incident continues to be under investigation.
