Early Tuesday afternoon, July 27th, call were received by Klamath 911 from a woman reporting that she had been abducted by a man outside of Eugene, and that she was hiding behind Walmart after eluding the suspect.
The victim provided a vehicle description they had arrived in, as well as what she was wearing to the 911 call operator so officers from the Klamath Falls Police Department and Klamath County Sheriff’s deputies responding to the scene.
Authorities quickly located the woman in the vicinity and she provided additional information about the suspect including that he may be armed with a 12 gauge shotgun and had made prior statements regarding shooting it out with law enforcement, as well as an accurate description of the suspect’s clothing and physical appearance.
Dressed down deputies from the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office entered the location in an effort to not create an unnecessary panic situation while attempting to locate and identify the suspect, identified as 53 year old Troy J. Massa, from Macdoel, California, with out alarming him to their presence as officers from the Klamath Falls Police Department discreetly evacuated patrons to safety outside the building.
It was learned during investigation, additional crimes had allegedly been committed in Siskiyou County.
Massa was taken into custody without incident and placed in Klamath County Jail on charges of 2nd degree Kidnapping and Coercion.
