Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a man Tuesday who they believe sexually assaulted a horse.
Kenneth Duyck, a 20-year-old transient man, was arrested on charges of sexual assault of an animal, second-degree burglary and probation violation.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office first began investigating the incident on April 19 after they received a call from a resident in the 200 block of Northwest 334th Avenue.
The homeowner told deputies she went out to her horse stables that morning and found one of her horses tied up in a manner she had not left it. She said it looked like other items in the area had been disturbed, indicating someone had been there.
After the horse was evaluated by a veterinarian, deputies believe the horse was sexually assaulted.
Investigators obtained suspect information from the from the victim and neighbors that made them consider Duyck a suspect. They say he frequents the Cornelius and Forest Grove areas.
Tuesday morning, deputies found Duyck parked in a vehicle in the Cornelius Walmart lot. At first, Duyck told deputies he entered the stables, but only to look for work. He later admitted he had sexual contact with the horse.
