Early Wednesday evening, May 5th, 1830 hours the Crescent City Police Department responded to a report of a hit and run that had occurred at the intersection of Highway 101 and Elk Valley Road at approximately 6:30pm.
An off-duty Crescent City Officer spotted the suspect vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Highway 101 and was able to report the location to responding officers.
A traffic stop of the suspect vehicle was conducted near the Hwy. 199 interchange. During the investigation officers established probable cause and arrested 22 year old Jonathan Simpson for Felony Hit and Run causing injury.
The victims, including two adults and several children in the vehicle, transported themselves to Sutter Coast Hospital for treatment. Simpson was booked into the Del Norte County Jail.
