Early Saturday morning, November 18th, multiple calls were received by 911 regarding a disturbance near North Medford High School with some of the callers reporting a female screaming and a male assaulting the female.
Within moments, a phone call from the involved male was received, informing the dispatcher that he had just assaulted a female and made somewhat incoherent statements.
Medford Police officers were on scene within three minutes, and first responding officers contacted an individual walking away from the scene with evidence that he had been involved in an assault.
The individual, identified as 22 year old Anthony Siple, was taken into custody immediately.
The 51 year old female victim was located by officers nearby, in serious condition. Medical responders arrived and transported the victim to a nearby hospital and remains in critical condition.
The female victim frequently made morning walks and lives in the area of the assault and Medford Police Detectives believe that the suspect and victim were unknown to each other. The suspect used a blunt object during this assault and this object has been recovered.
Anthony Siple was arrested and lodged at the Jackson County Jail for Attempted Murder and Assault in the First Degree.
