At 5:50am Tuesday morning, in what turn out to be a bizarre 3 hour crime spree, a couple in the 100 block of Vancouver Avenue awoke to a person inside their home. The suspect fled out the back door with a bottle of alcohol.
At 6:20am, a resident in the 1100 block of Siskiyou Avenue heard repeated knocking on the front door and saw the suspect on her video camera. At one point the suspect was masturbating. The suspect then suddenly kicked in the front door, and briefly entered the residence before seeing the homeowner and fleeing after heavily damaging the door.
Officers began check the area with a K-9 but could not find the suspect.
At 8:38am, Officers responded to the 1100 block of Siskiyou Avenue for a report of an elderly female who let the suspect in to her home to use the bathroom, but he refused to leave. When he finally did leave, he stole a watch and cell phone. Officers located the man, rather quickly. After a short foot pursuit the suspect, identified as 22 year old Ira Ponder, was arrested.
Later, two separate callers on Portland Avenue called in to report the suspect was seen on video surveillance around 4:00am, trespassing in their backyards and peering through the window.
