Man Allegedly Brandishes Weapon in McDonalds Drive-Thru

Brookings Police officers as well as Curry County Sheriff’s deputies and Oregon State Police troopers responded to the McDonalds located on Hwy. 101 in Brookings just after 9:30am Thursday morning after reports of a weapon allegedly being brandished in the drive-thru lane.

Two elderly males confronted each other in the drive-thru lane at the Brookings location McDonalds when one of the men began honking their horn at the other man in line in front of him over the lengthy amount of time it was taking to complete food orders.

The victim, left his vehicle positioned in front of the other mans vehicle who was honking his horn, and reported seeing the man with a handgun in his vehicle.

After first responding officers arrived at the scene, the vehicle was stopped by authorities in the parking lot and the elderly man was removed from his vehicle.

It was determined that the handgun was not loaded, or pointed at anyone and after the victim declined to press charges and the firearm seized, the elderly man was cited and released.
