After a two-year investigation into both heroin and methamphetamine sales in Southern Oregon, Gharrett Parker, 33, from Stockton, California, was arrested in Yreka, California on June 22nd.
Parker is familiar to local law enforcement, as he has been arrested in years past for meth and heroin sales. After serving time in prison, Parker resumed his drug trafficking, but would rarely come into Oregon to conduct the sales. Investigators identified approximately 20 subjects who worked for him to get the drugs into the hands of local dealers.
It is estimated that Parker was responsible for several pounds of heroin and methamphetamine, per month, coming into the valley.
On June 22nd, after obtaining federal arrest warrants, Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement (MADGE) investigators teamed up with FBI and Yreka law enforcement to arrest Parker at a motel in Yreka. Parker jumped out of a window in an attempt to flee, but was quickly apprehended. He was briefly hospitalized for injuring his lower legs when he jumped out of the second story window with no shoes.
Detectives found over a pound of both heroin and meth when he was arrested. Several other individuals from the Stockton area were detained during the arrest and the investigation is continuing.
Parker remains in Jackson County Jail, where he is being held on federal charges.
