Monday afternoon just before 1:30 pm, Cape Ferrelo, and Brookings Fire Departments responded to an accident on Highway 101 about 1 mile north of the Thomas Creek bridge.
A loaded log truck traveling southbound on HWY. 101 had left the roadway and spilled it’s load and rolled over, pinning the driver inside the cab of the truck. The driver was found to be alert and oriented but entangled in the wreckage of the truck’s cab which was on its roof.
Crews worked for about two and a half hours to extricate the victim. The driver was transported to a local hospital by Cal-Ore Life Flight.
Other agencies that responded were Curry County Sheriff’s Department, Oregon State Police, Oregon Department of Transportation and Gold Beach Fire Department. The extent of the injuries to the driver is unknown at this time.
