#BREAKING Coast Guard crews in Humboldt Bay are monitoring for pollution and overseeing salvage operations after a fishing vessel caught fire near Trinidad this morning. A good Samaritan vessel, the Pacific Bully, rescued all 5 fishermen, who abandonded ship in a life raft after they lost control of the fire. The vessel owner reported up to 1,500 gallons of diesel on board, but no sheen has been detected.Here's a bird's eye view of the fire from a Coast Guard helicopter. A good Samaritan vessel, the Pacific Bully, rescued all 5 fishermen, who abandoned ship in a life raft after they lost control of the fire.
Latest reports are that all of the crew were reported rescued and are attempts to recover the vessel and return to Crescent City are underway.
The vessel owner reported up to 1,500 gallons of diesel on board, but no sheen has been detected.
