Life Saving Measures by Deputy Saves Man Attempting Suicide at Curry County Jail

Very early Thursday morning, August 29th, a Corrections Deputy discovered what appeared to be a Male Adult in Custody attempting to commit suicide during a well-being check of Adults in Custody at the Curry County Jail at approximately 3:40am.  

Life saving measures were immediately administered by the deputy as emergency medical personnel were requested to respond to the Jail.  

First responders from Gold Beach Fire and Cal Ore Life Flight took over life saving measures upon arrival. The individual was transported to the Curry General Hospital and is being treated at Bay Area Hospital as of Thursday afternoon.  

“I would like to commend the quick actions taken by the Deputies involved in order to preserve the life of the individual in custody. I would also like to acknowledge the quick response of Cal Ore and Gold Beach Fire.” ” Sheriff Ward stated.  

The Oregon State Police is the lead agency in this incident and will be conducting the investigation.
