Les Schwab Steps Up for Displaced Camp Fire Employees

After the Camp Fire that devastated communities just outside of Chico California, the Les Schwab Tire Centers came together to help the store employees who lost their homes after the fire destroyed the community of Paradise, California.

After the fire, a GoFundMe page was set up to help the 7 employees who lost their homes during the Camp Fire get back on their feet.

A lengthy list of donors included donations from all eight states of operation that Les Schwab stores are located, retirees, Board, and family members, as well as various vendors and suppliers that Les Schwab works with.

The GoFundme page was recently closed after the GoFundMe page and the Company employee match reached an impressive $202,207!

According to the GoFundme page itself, the campaign was set up by Nathan Wright, the Area Manager in Northern California, to allow employees the opportunity to help the affected families and employees get back on their feet during this very difficult time.

Nathan will directly distribute all contributions equally to each of the employees in Nathan’s Area who lost their homes and had their lives turned upside down by the fire. Collected funds will be used for things such as temporary housing, food, transportation, replacing clothing and household items, etc.

Nathan Wright delivered the first GoFundMe checks last week to the seven employees who lost their homes in the Camp Fire, pictured here. Each employee received $13,500. Of these 7 employees, 6 are from Paradise location and 1 was from the Oroville store. Nathan shared they are hanging in there and deeply appreciative of all the support. The remaining funds will be distributed to these employees.
