The Illinois Valley Fire District as well as multiple other surrounding agencies including Rural Metro Fire and the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a Commercial Structure just after 9:00pm Friday night, March 11th.
Units, dispatched to Hwy. 199 and West River St., in Cave Junction, arrived to the scene of single story structure heavily involved. After assessment of the scene, crews attacked the burning structure, bringing the blaze under control within 30 minutes.
Traffic on Hwy. 199 and East River St. was closed as crews and equipment fought the fire, and later opened to one lane on Hwy. 199.
One firefighter was transported to Three Rivers for further evaluation after suffering a medical issue while on scene, and is reported to be in stable condition at the time the incident was being completed.
The fire remains under investigation.
