A very large slide covered the entire roadway, closing Hwy. 101 Saturday, February 13th, and continued to be active into Sunday February 14th.

Crews worked through the night Saturday and Hwy. 101 was reopened at approximately 6:00pm Sunday evening to one way traffic with more than 30 minute delays.

Approximately 3 hours later, the unstable ground gave way once more and Hwy. 101 was closed again just after 9:30pm Sunday evening. CalTrans reported crews would be monitoring the roadway throughout Sunday evening and Monday morning, reassess the situation Monday morning, and reopen when safe to do so.
