Just before 3:30pm Thursday afternoon, the Oregon Department of Transportation reported that a large tree had fallen across Hwy. 101 in the Humbug Mountain corridor.
The tree, approximately 6 feet in diameter, had fallen from the east side slope stretching precariously across the highway, blocking and closing traffic in both directions for several hours.
The Oregon Department of Transportation was dispatched to the scene to remove the more than 60 foot tall tree safely. It wouldn’t be until after 7:30pm that the tree was at least partially cleared from the roadway, and limited traffic was allowed to pass with delays.
