As we come to the close of the 2021 varsity Lady Bruin softball season, the Lady Bruins traveled to Sutherlin to challenge the 2-8 Lady Bulldogs in the first game of a season closing 3 game series. On the road the Lady Bruins stepped into the batters box first with an opportunity to take an early lead on the Lady Bulldog pitching. Junior Hannah James #5 stepped in the box to lead off the Lady Bruins and popped up a 3-0 to center that would dropped putting the lead off on the base paths. James would steal 2nd and then 3rd on a passed ball and junior Jordan Pryor would bring her in to start the Lady Bruin scoring. In all the Lady Bruins would send 12 batters to the plate and take an 0-8 lead into the bottom of the 1st.
Senior right-hander Gracie Harms took to he circle for the Lady Bruins and retired the first three batters she saw in order, swinging.
The Lady Bruins added two more runs in the top of the 2nd and held a commanding 0-10 lead after two. The Lady Bruins held Sutherlin scoreless into the 3rd before the Lady Bulldogs could put together enough offense to a runner across the plate to make it 1-11 Bruins after three.
Cameron Crosby #2, Gracie Harms #27, Tilly Peters #8 and Madison Taylor #22 all had multiple base hits for the Lady Bruins and Gracie Harms, Hannah James, Tillie Peters, Jordan Pryor, Lexi Schofield, and Madison Taylor all had multiple RBI as the Lady Bruins went on to take the win 6-16 on the road behind the pitching of Harms, who threw a complete game and struck-out 12.
The Lady Bruins will be at home for their final home games this Friday afternoon taking on these same Sutherlin Lady Bulldogs to decide the series.
