The Lady Bruin varsity soccer team rebounded nicely after suffering their second league loss of the season to this years rival Sutherlin Lady Bulldogs followed by a non-league loss to St. Mary’s.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Lady Bruins traveled to Lakeview to take on the 6-4 Lady Honkers and after jumping out to an early lead, after senior Hannah James #5 put the ball behind the Lady Honker’s keeper to take an early 1-0 lead.
The Lady Honkers would battle back and put 2 goals on the board in the first half of play. Lady Bruin striker, senior Hannah James #5 also scored again before the half time break, to tie the score at 2-2 at the half.
The second half of play was a defensive struggle for both teams attempting to stop each teams offensive attacks, knowing that the next goal could decide the match.
The score remained tied throughout the second half of play, until late when junior forward Zoe Carlson put the Lady Bruins up 3-2 with under 10 minutes to play. The Lady Bruin defense frantically pushed back desperate attempts from the Lady Honkers to score and tie the contest, as time ran out.
The now 9-3 Lady Bruins close out their season at home this afternoon, Friday, October 29th, with post season implications against the 2-6 Coquille Lady Red Devils at 3:30pm.
