Lady Bruins Overpower Sutherlin in Final Home Game

Starting pitcher Gracie Harms allowed only 2 hits and 1 run in five innings.

Head Coach Tony Baron and his Lady Bruin varsity softball team hosted the 2-7 Sutherlin Lady Bulldogs in their last home game of the season and were not about to send their loyal fans home disappointed.

The Lady Bruins were determined at the plate and aggressive on the basepaths putting the pressure to make plays on the visiting Lady Bulldogs.

Gracie Harms took the mound for the Lady Bruins throwing a gem allowing only one run on 2 hits while striking out 7 in 5 innings of softball.

Second baseman Jordan Crosby played perfect defense and went 2 for 3 at the plate.

The Lady Bruin defense allowed only 1 run to cross the plate in the 2nd inning but shutdown any offensive momentum by committing no errors and making plays when needed.

But it was the Lady Bruin offense that made the difference scoring in 4 of 5 innings played. The Lady Bruins scored 7 runs off of 11 hits and ran the basepaths aggressively forcing the Lady Bulldogs into 8 errors.

Madison Taylor laced a line drive homerun in the fourth and Jordan Crosby went 2 for 3 at the plate. However, with 2 runners on the basepaths and two outs, Sierra Fitzhugh laid down a perfect bunt forcing the Lady Bulldogs to commit a throwing error allowing the two baserunners to score and end the game with a Lady Bruin victory.

The 4-6 Lady Bruins will close out the regular season on the road against the same Sutherlin Lady Bulldog team in a double header in Sutherlin this Thursday at 3:00pm.
