The Lady Bruins made the very long trip to the home of the undefeated Baker Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Bruins have their work cut out for them as the Lady Bulldogs of the 4A-7 Greater Oregon League sit on a 6-0 league record and a 20-1 overall record on the season.
When the Wild Coast Compass spoke with Coach Schofield yesterday the coach said “Made it to Baker. Safe and sound… Long day of travel.” Before coming into Baker, the Coach actually arranged for the Lady Bruins to get into a gym in the neighboring town of Powder Valley to get some work in while letting the Lady’s stretch their legs after the nearly 10-hour road trip.
I asked Coach Schofield if they were working on anything special going into Friday nights game…”Having a full week to prepare can get monotonous and the temptation is to get away from what you have done all year and get a little too tricky as a coach” said Schofield. “So we’ve really focused on fundamentals all week long. Really honing the things we already have in with a few little wrinkles. And the girls have done a great job all week staying focused on the task at hand” he went on to say.
The Lady Bruins take on the Baker Lady Bulldogs tonight (Friday) at 8:15 pm and must come away with a win to move on in postseason play.
