The first day of school was also the start of the school sports season for many. Lady Bruin varsity volleyball coach Lorinda Shew brought a confident Lady Bruin team to the floor to face off against a tough McKinleyville team in a non-league game at home Tuesday night.
The Lady Bruins were strong both defensively and offensively at the net recording 4 blocks on defense and and 22 kills on offense.
The Bruins saw excellent individual play that showed signs of what this determined group of 13 is capable of if they can control the communication errors as they gel as a team.
The Lady Bruins served up 8 Aces with sophomore Jo Pryor serving 4 of those 8 Aces by her self. Senior Cartyr Fitzhugh #6 and junior Gracie Harms #11 both had 6 kills and sophomore Valerie Tribble had 4 kills as the Lady Bruins racked up 22 kills as a team.
The Lady Bruins will be on the road to Grants Pass to take on the North Valley Knights in another non-league contest TODAY at 6:30.
