The Lady Bruin volleyball team and head coach Lorinda Shew were on the road Wednesday traveling to take on a formidable 7-3 Sutherlin Lady Bulldog team in Sutherlin.
The Lady Bruins, who have struggled dropping their last two outings, were not lacking energy taking the court Wednesday afternoon. As in the last two matches, individual play was outstanding, but the Lady Bruins just could not get enough momentum to take control.
Serving aces were low, limiting scoring runs, and putting the Lady Bruins in long rally’s, battling for points. On defense, junior Jo Pryor #10 led the way with 11 digs, followed by senior Shelby Jirsa #4 with 9 digs, senior Gracie Harms #14 had 7 digs and senior Sierra Fitzhugh #5 had 6 digs and 1 block.
It was offensively where the Lady Bruins seem to be struggling, Sierra Fitzhugh #5 had 11 kills, followed by senior Shelby Jirsa #4 with 4 kills, Gracie Harms with 3 kills and junior Jordan Crosby #2 had 2 kills. But with out being able to win points off their own serve consistently, the Lady Bruins have not been able get a win.
“I am proud of the Bruin girls today. We went down in 3 hard fought games. The girls challenged them way beyond what the score shows in long rally after long rally”, coach Shew said.
The Lady Bruins begin their post-season journey this Saturday.
