Coach Bryan Carlson and his undefeated Lady Bruin varsity soccer team traveled to Medford Monday to take on the 3-1 St. Mary’s Lady Crusaders who had defeated Cascade Christian 5-0 earlier before losing to the North Bend Lady Bulldogs 1-2 last week.
The Lady Bruins struggled early in the contest with ball control that compounded as the game progressed. St. Mary’s took advantage of the situation early putting 3 goals in the net 25 minutes into the game.
The Lady Crusaders then used their 3 point advantage to attack any offensive attacks by the lady Bruins, interupting passing lanes and challenging every errant trap or pass created by their defensive pressure. This prevented the Lady Bruins from working themselves into a shooting position, and pushed all Lady Bruin attacks to outside where they trapped them in corners and pushed the ball out.
The Lady Bruins would fall 0-3, making their overall record 5-1-1 as they are scheduled to meet the 4-1 Sutherlin Lady Bulldogs, who are looking to avenge their only loss of the season against the Lady Bruins earlier in the month.
