This weeks Brookings Les Schwab ‘Star Student Athlete’ selection breaks new ground and leaves big shoes to fill as the first middle school candidate.
This weeks selection is Kelsie Hargrove, a 7th grade four sport athlete representing Azalea Middle School.
Kelsie was nominated by her flag football coach Rusty White, and has played in the Bruin Football Association flag football program since its inception 5 years ago.
In this past season, Kelsie played multiple positions for coach White and the Browns. “She is one of the first females to play and is very competitive and athletic and does a great job.” Coach White told the Compass. “She has really developed her skills in catching and snapping, is a great teammate and has been a pleasure to have on the team.” He went on to say.
Kelsie is currently a 7th grade student at Azalea Middle School, participates in multiple sports including football, basketball and soccer, as well as carrying a 3.5 grade point average.
Congratulations Kelsie, and good luck in all your future athletic and academic endeavors.
