On Saturday, March 17, 2018, during an operation taking place over the weekend, Douglas Inter-agency Narcotics Team contacted two subjects in a traffic stop a black Dodge pickup truck speeding on Interstate 5 north of Roseburg. During the stop, police walked K9 Trapper, a drug detection dog, around the vehicle, according to a police affidavit.
During the stop, K9 Trapper was applied to the vehicle and alerted to the presence of narcotics. Detectives searched the vehicle and located what appeared to be a very large amount of methamphetamine.
The methamphetamine was seized and transported to Douglas Inter-agency Narcotics Team where it could be processed and tested.
The total amount of meth seized was approximately 74 pounds, net weight, which is the largest single seizure of meth in the Douglas Inter-agency Narcotics Team’s 28-year history.
The Douglas Inter-agency Narcotics Team also seized an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect’s vehicle.
