Jackson County Search and Rescue Locates and Rescues Lost Hiker

On Friday evening, September 6th, Jackson County Search and Rescue responded to a lost hiker on Mt. McLoughlin.

The hiker first attempted to self rescue by hiking towards Fish lake after losing sight of the pole marking system on the summit area of the mountain, left the trail, and was unable to do so before dark due to very difficult terrain.

After receiving the hikers call for help, Jackson County Search and Rescue personnel had already deployed to the hikers last know location and was monitoring the hikers position via cell phone until the phone lost battery power near nightfall.

The hiker was located by Jackson County Search and Rescue personnel just after 9:00pm, and after supplying the hiker with extra clothing, water, and a head lamp, she was lead out to the nearest road and reunited with her family at 11:00pm.
