A Jackson County man who eluded deputies through the Eagle Point area early Tuesday morning is in jail. Following the vehicle pursuit and foot chase, deputies arrested Allen Dale Mitchell, 54, on several charges.
On Tuesday, July 10, at 12:30 a.m., a Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to stop a white Infinity G35 for a traffic violation. The driver, later identified as Mitchell, continued northbound, through the city of Eagle Point, without stopping. The vehicle turned onto Butte Falls Highway and came to a stop in the middle of the roadway.
Mitchell fled on foot and was stopped by a deputy a short distance away. Mitchell actively resisted arrest. A second deputy arrived and Mitchell was eventually taken into custody.
Deputies deployed a drug detection K9 around the vehicle. K9 Jack alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded methamphetamine, heroin, and equipment commonly used for drug sales. Deputies also found fifteen pounds of processed marijuana in the trunk.
Both of the vehicle’s passengers were arrested. Lydia Mae Davis, 27, of Medford, was lodged in jail for violating probation on a conviction for unlawful possession of heroin. Taylor Nicole Shull, 22, of Eagle Point, was cited and released for unlawful possession of heroin.
Deputies lodged Mitchell in jail on the following charges: attempting to elude an officer in a vehicle, attempting to elude an officer on foot, reckless driving, two counts of recklessly endangering another person, unlawful possession of heroin, unlawful delivery of heroin, unlawful possession of methamphetamine, and unlawful possession of marijuana. Total bail at the time of booking was $75,000.
