It was a “Pink Out” Thursday night at the Bruins gym as Coach Shew and her Lady Bruin volleyball team took the court against the 5-2 South Umpqua Lady Lancers who traveled from Myrtle Creek.
Defense was on the menu last night and the extra energy of Homecoming week had the Lady Bruins fired up. 8 Lady Bruins got into the hustle category of digs, led by Shelby Jirsa and Sierra Fitzhugh who each recorded 7 on the night.
But the Lady Lancers were strong at the net and the Lady Bruins struggled to stop the power shots recording only 2 blocks at the net.
The Lady Bruins put together some runs from the service line, but aces were few and far between. Gracie Harms led the team with 3 aces on the night.
The Lady Bruins had 6 players in the “kills” column with Sierra Fitzhugh getting 6 in the match followed by Cartyr Fitzhugh and Ashlyn Schofield who had 4 kills.
The Lady Bruins will be on the road next Tuesday as they travel to Winston to take on the Lady Trojans of Douglas at 6:00pm.
