Late Thursday evening, March 13th, a Medford Police Officer observed a vehicle traveling in the continuous left-turn lane on Crater Lake Avenue around midnight.
The officer initiated a traffic stop at Crater Lake Avenue and Grand Avenue after the driver stopped at a green light and failed to maintain their lane.

As the officer contacted the visibly intoxicated driver, the suspect suddenly fled. Officers pursued the vehicle eastbound on East McAndrews Road before the driver ran a stop sign at Lone Pine Road and struck landscaping boulders, causing the vehicle to flip and land upside down in a yard.
The individual, on transitional leave from prison, sustained only minor injuries and then attempted to flee on foot, but was quickly detained while crawling out of the wreckage.
No other occupants were in the vehicle. The driver was transported to Providence Hospital for a court-ordered blood draw and medical clearance providing a blood sample with an alcohol content (BAC) of .14% four hours after the initial stop.before being lodged in the Jackson County Jail on multiple charges.
