On Thursday morning, May 21st, it has been reported that Josephine County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a shooting victim in Cave Junction.
Multiple law enforcement agencies confirmed late Thursday that just before 10:30am, the victim, a volunteer firefighter for the Illinois Valley Fire District, was found deceased by Deputies at the victim’s residence.
Deputies immediately notified surrounding law enforcement agencies after observing evidence that a firearm altercation had taken place and that the victim’s vehicle had been stolen.
Just before noon late Thursday morning, a stolen vehicle was stopped near Crescent City, and a suspect was taken into custody.
The situation is currently under investigation by the Oregon State Police as well as other agencies and will be updated as more information becomes available.
