Sunday, September 15 at 10:47 AM Illinois Valley Fire District and Oregon Department of Forestry responded to a vehicle fire on HWY 199 just north of Kerby.
When crews arrived the car’s engine compartment was fully engulfed in flames. The fire had also spread into the wild land next to Hwy. 199 and was contained to an approximately 10’ X 20’ area.
Illinois Valley Fire District quickly extinguished the car fire while the Oregon Department of Forestry took care of the wild land fire.
Hwy. 199 was closed for approximately 30 minutes while firefighters were working at the scene.
Oregon Department of Transportation assisted with traffic control and the Oregon State Police is investigating the cause of the fire.
