A series of slides on Hwy. 199 between Tuesday May 19th, and Wednesday May 20th, has kept CalTrans busy keeping the road clear and open.
A first slide was reported late Tuesday night just before midnight near Washington Hill at mile marker 25, reducing Hwy. 199 to one-lane traffic. Another slide was also reported at a separate location at approximately the same time.
On Wednesday morning May 20th, CalTrans crews were back at almost the same location with another sizeable slide that again reduced Hwy. 199 to single lane traffic for many hours.
