Travelers along Redwood Hwy. 199 near the Oregon border should know we’ll be closing the Collier Tunnel Rest Area for the remainder of summer starting June 18.
The rebuilding of the wastewater treatment system there is expected to be completed in late September. Signs will be placed in the area soon as well to give folks a heads up. Please plan your rest stops around this closure and travel safe this summer!
Officials understand that the closure of this courtesy facility is an inconvenience to many, but, this work is more efficiently done in the summer as it requires dry conditions. These necessary updates will extend the useful life of the rest area well into the future.
