Monday afternoon, September 28th, Rural Metro Fire Southwest Oregon District and the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety were dispatched to a brush fire just before 3:00pm.

The fire located just outside of Grants Pass on Redwood Hwy. 199 near Applegate Ave. was contained to about a tenth of an acre after an aggressive initial attack by responding fire crews and was prevented from being a threat to nearby residences.

Hwy. 199 was reduced to one southbound lane by law enforcement to provide a safe work zone for firefighters and equipment near the roadway.
