The Grants Pass Police Department continued its manhunt for the individual wanted in connection with a homicide that occurred inside an apartment located on Rogue River Highway early Tuesday evening on November 21st.
The Grants Pass Police Department responded to a report of gunshots inside an apartment in the 1400 block of Rogue River Highway.
Upon their arrival, officers found one victim who had been shot and another who had been severely beaten. The gunshot victim, Katherine Crago, did not survive her wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The male victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was expected to recover from his injuries.
Over the past three weeks, the Grants Pass Police Major Crimes Unit has conducted an intensive investigation, including meticulous forensic analysis and community collaboration. The investigation revealed the victims had been specifically targeted for the residential robbery that resulted in murder.
As a result of the multi-agency investigation, three individuals were arrested including Sasha Marie Moe, arrested on November 22nd, Rick Eric Braton Lester, arrested on December 4th, and Michael Fay Woodruff, arrested on December 11th. All suspects have been lodged at the Josephine County Jail on charges of 2nd Degree Murder, Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, 1st Degree Robbery, 1st Degree Burglary, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and 2nd Degree Assault.
A fourth individual, 48 year old Kelly Lynn Mason, a white male who was last known to reside in Josephine County and considered armed and dangerous as of Friday, remained at large and it was unknown whether Mason had fled the area or was attempting to hide locally.
On Friday, December 15th, Redwood Highway 199, was closed Friday afternoon for a police investigation into a multi-agency officer-involved shooting following a short pursuit. During the pursuit, Kelly Lynn Mason fired at officers who returned fire.
The suspect, 48 year old Kelly Lynn Mason reportedly attempted to flee after being identified driving on Hwy. 199. Mason then fired at officers, injuring one before being killed in the fire fight.
Hwy. 199 remained closed Friday afternoon as a police investigation into a multi-agency officer-involved shooting was performed.
