In a statement from CalTrans District 1, crews are making great progress on the culvert replacement on Route 197 in Del Norte County currently causing a full closure through the 15th.
There have been many questions and comments regarding the one-way traffic control on Hwy. 199. Some areas of the Hwy. 199 detour are too narrow for two semi-trucks to pass each other safely.
For this reason traffic control has been deployed on some areas of the Hwy. 199 detour to accommodate truck traffic navigating tight curves and a much larger volume of detoured traffic.
Hwy. 197 is scheduled to remain closed until Thursday, August 15th.
