Oregon State Police responded to a single vehicle crash on Hwy 101 very late Sunday evening, near Port Orford at approximately 11:40pm.
The preliminary investigation indicated a southbound Ford F250 left the roadway for unknown reasons, traveled approximately 400 feet through a field, and struck a tree causing the vehicle to become engulfed in flames.
The operator of the vehicle, identified as 36 year old James Franklin Mickelson of Sixes, and passengers, 20 year old Joseph Frances Kurka of Sixes and 35 year old Dereck Eugene Stroop of Port Orford, were all declared deceased at the scene.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
