On Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at approximately 9:45 P.M. Oregon State Police and emergency personnel responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Hwy 101 near Lakeside.
Preliminary investigation reveals that a Ford pickup was traveling on Hwy 101 when for unknown reasons left the roadway and rolled.
The operator and lone occupant, identified as 60-year-old Joey Vandenhey of Lakeside, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Oregon State Police was assisted by Lower Umpqua Ambulance, North Bend Chapel, and the Coos County Sheriff’s Office.
