On Monday, August 3rd, 43 year old George Rose of Humboldt County allegedly forced entry into a residence east of Mckinleyville in Fieldbrook California. Rose, reportedly armed with a firearm, forced three residents, into a vehicle at the residence and fled with the three. Rose and the victims reportedly knew each other prior to this incident.
Another resident of the home returned later that evening, reporting her roommates missing, several items had been taken from the residence and her burnt orange 1999 Ford F-350 had been stolen.
At some point in time Rose, who was believed to be armed and dangerous, reportedly stopped the vehicle in the Orleans area and removed a camper shell from the truck. Rose then left two of the victims in Orleans and fled in the vehicle with 27 year old Joy Hong.
On Tuesday afternoon, August 4th, one of the victims left in Orleans was able to locate a nearby residence and contacted law enforcement for help.
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was notified by Oregon’s Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday afternoon August 5th, that kidnapping suspect George Rose was located near Talent, OR. Rose reportedly approached a resident’s home and requested assistance in contacting law enforcement to turn himself in.
Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the location where Rose and the victim were located. 27 year old Joy Hong was found alive and unharmed.
43 year old George Rose of Humboldt County is believed to have kidnapped Joy Hong and was subsequently taken into custody.
