A group named “Take a Bite out of Blight” along with the City of Crescent City took action and removed what appears to have been a long-standing illegal encampment along a beach area the end of 4th Street at the beach area in Crescent City.
The Group and City personnel arrived early Thursday morning and broke up the group illegally encamped on the hillside and the beach area itself and removed the trash left behind by the transients occupying the area.
Residents in the area of East Hoffeldt Lane and Hwy. 101 in Harbor Oregon reported early Friday morning that authorities had descended on a long known encampment occupying the empty appliance building and its surroundings and have moved transients from that location after months of complaints and frustration from area residents. Residents have complained of violent fights, drug use, litter, drug paraphernalia, feces and disturbances at all hours for a very long period of time with no permanent action by authorities.
Recently, some of the problems extended to a business off of West Hoffeldt Lane when a person wielded a gun inside a business during business hours followed most recently by a person with a knife confronting people in the Grocery Outlet shopping center parking lot. In both cases, further investigation allegedly led authorities to the transient encampment on the corner of East Hoffeldt Lane and Hwy. 101.
