Just before midnight Monday, October 25th, Medford Police Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on U-Haul pick-up. During the attempt to stop the vehicle, the vehicle eluded into Talent before returning back into downtown Medford. .
The truck was speeding through the allies and lost control after crossing 5th Street before crashing into the backside of Al’s Cycle and Hobby.
The crash caused a significant natural gas leak, and the occupant and suspect, 32 year old Terrence Chavers, was found in the vehicle attempting to light items in the truck on fire.
The area was temporarily evacuated until the gas leak could be repaired while Chavers was taken into custody and charged with several crimes.
