On Tuesday night at about 10:10 pm, a Medford Police Officer attempted to catch up to a vehicle driving without headlights on Barnett Road, near Alba Drive. The vehicle drove at a high rate of speed onto I-5 northbound, exceeding speeds of 100 miles per hour.
The vehicle exited in Central Point where officers were waiting. The officers determined the 1997 Nissan SUV was stolen out of Medford.
The vehicle continued to elude officers as it drove back into Medford. The snow on the roads proved to be hazardous and the officers lost sight of the vehicle for a brief period. During this time, the vehicle parked on Woodbridge Drive, off of Spring Street.
The driver tried to casually walk out of the area where he was quickly detained. He was identified as Henry Maldanado, 35, who is well known to us. He was also in possession of methamphetamine.
