A large upper-level high pressure system is currently situated over much of the West and is expected to remain in place through the weekend. Record breaking high and low temperatures are expected across the region as high temperatures could reach up to 20-30 degrees above average and an excessive heat warning is in effect from 11:00am Saturday to 6:00pm Tuesday for most interior valley locations.
Smoke from area wildfires will bring continued impacts through the holiday weekend, especially to Northern California and for areas from the Cascades east. The Oregon DEQ has issued an Air Quality Advisory for Jackson, Josephine, Lake, and Klamath counties.
